YZY (ticker YZY) is a Solana token launched in August 2025 by Ye, formerly Kanye West, as the official token of his Yeezy brand.[1] Its market value passed $3 billion within an hour of launch and then fell sharply.[1][2]
Lore[edit]
Ye promoted the token late on 20 August 2025 US time on his verified X account with the post "A new economy, built on chain", followed about an hour later by a video confirming the "official Yeezy token". It was the first coin he formally launched under his own name; he had earlier said memecoins "prey on the fans with hype".[1][3] The project site, money.yeezy.com, framed YZY as part of "a new financial system, built on crypto rails", alongside a proposed Ye Pay payment processor and a YZY Card for spending YZY and USDC, with no timeline given.[1]
Total supply is one billion tokens. Bubblemaps data cited by Decrypt showed one wallet holding about 70%, with about 20% public and the rest vested under Yeezy Investments LLC.[1] The site said the team deployed 25 contract addresses and picked one at random as the official token, as an anti-sniping measure.[4] The main liquidity pool sits on Meteora.[5]
According to Decrypt, citing Birdeye, the market cap passed $3 billion less than an hour after launch before dropping below $1 billion; later Decrypt coverage described the peak as a fully diluted value of nearly $3 billion.[1][6] Cointelegraph reported a 1,400% rally in the first hour followed by a fall of more than 80%.[2]

Controversies[edit]
Sniping allegations
On 25 August 2025 Bubblemaps alleged that 44 wallets it believes are controlled by Hayden Davis, CEO of Kelsier Ventures, link the Melania Meme team wallet, the Libra sniper wallet and 14 wallets that bought YZY as early as one minute after the announcement.[4][7] It said those wallets put in about $2.8 million and made about $12 million in profit, and that several were funded from centralised exchanges the day before launch.[4][7] Bubblemaps added that it "can't confirm if Hayden (Kelsier) had insider info or a direct link to the YZY team".[7] The launch came a day after a US judge unfroze $57.6 million in USDC tied to Davis and Ben Chow in the LIBRA case.[4] Davis has defended the sniping of tokens he helped launch but denied doing it himself; Kelsier did not respond to Decrypt, and The Block could not reach Davis.[4][7]
Bubblemaps had earlier said YZY's first buyer was a trader known as "Naseem", who it says made about $100 million on Official Trump.[3][7]
Losses
Bubblemaps reported on 28 August 2025 that 51,862 of 70,201 YZY traders (73.8%) had lost money, $74.8 million in total, while 18,333 wallets made a combined $66.6 million and 11 wallets took nearly 30% of all profits.[3] The Block said it asked Ye for comment and published no response.[3]
Fake tokens
On 26 August 2025 Ye posted that his Instagram had been hacked and was "following a fake coin", after the account followed a profile promoting an impostor YZY token on pump.fun; the impostor peaked near $7 million in market cap and then fell about 96%.[6]
