Broccoli

From Trenchwiki, the trench encyclopedia

Broccoli refers to the wave of memecoins named after Changpeng "CZ" Zhao's dog, launched across BNB Chain and Solana after the Binance founder revealed the dog's name on 13 February 2025.[1][2]

History[edit]

Before the reveal, traders tried to front-run CZ's post with "CZ's Dog" tokens such as CLEO, BROWNIE and PERRY, which reached multi-million-dollar market caps on BNB Chain and then fell once the name was known.[1] CZ posted a photo of an 18-month-old Belgian Malinois named Broccoli, saying: "I wanted a name that starts with 'B' and has some green in it". He added that the name had "a blocky sound" and closed with "Let the best meme coin in the community win."[1]

CZ said he had only posted a photo and was not launching a memecoin himself, and that whether a coin appeared was up to the community.[2][3] He said he would likely interact with several BNB Chain coins and suggested the BNB Foundation might reward the best memecoins with liquidity or other incentives.[2] The surge came a day after BNB Chain developers published a 2025 roadmap that proposed more support for memecoins.[2]

Examples[edit]

BNB Chain

Dozens of Broccoli tokens launched on Four.meme, BNB Chain's memecoin launchpad, which reportedly went offline under demand.[1] One BROCCOLI token briefly passed a $400 million market cap and settled near $74 million, with over $220 million in volume within two hours and at least 11 wallets making more than $1 million, per DEX Screener.[1] Several Broccoli tokens later traded under contract-suffixed tickers; MEXC listed BROCCOLIF3B perpetual futures on 19 February 2025 and Bitget on 20 March 2025.[5][6]

Solana

The top Solana Broccoli coin on 13 February 2025 had a market cap of about $5 million.[1] A separate Solana BROCCOLI token was launched on pump.fun by Sahil Arora from the wallet he had used for Caitlyn Jenner's token, according to Decrypt.[4] TrenchRadar data showed 79.31% of supply held through 15 new wallets, which Arora claimed he controlled; their sales cut the on-chain market cap from $9.57 billion to $907 million in 34 seconds and then to about $273 million.[4] Bubblemaps said the peak was inflated by thin liquidity but called the event "undeniably a large scale rug pull"; it disputed Arora's claimed $6.5 million profit, saying the two dumps came from about $3.3 million in sales.[4] Asked whether it was his most successful scam, Arora said "yes"; Jenner said "This is all him and has nothing to do with me."[4]
