Vine (ticker VINE, token name "Vine Coin") is a Solana memecoin launched on pump.fun in January 2025 by Rus Yusupov, a co-founder of the defunct looping-video app Vine.[1][2] It neared a $500 million market cap shortly after launch and later traded on Elon Musk's comments about reviving the app.[3]

Lore[edit]

Twitter bought Vine in 2012 for a reported $30 million and shut it down in 2017.[3] In January 2025 Musk said he was "looking into" bringing Vine back, amid concerns over a TikTok ban, and Yusupov launched the coin soon after.[2] VINE drove much of pump.fun's record day on 24 January 2025, when the platform took about $15.4 million in fees, and reached a market cap of nearly $425 million; pump.fun had earlier launched Moo Deng and Fartcoin.[1] Decrypt reported a high of about $498 million, followed by a 92% fall over the next month.[2][3] Yusupov set up a Vine Coin website, vineco.in, with a waitlist, which fed rumours that a relaunched app might use the token.[2]

On 29 March 2025 Musk replied "feel free to take that on" to an xAI employee who said xAI owned Vine; VINE gained 122% over three days to about $55 million.[2] On 24 July 2025 Musk said Vine would return "in AI form"; the token more than doubled to a peak of about $86.7 million before settling near $58 million.[3] Decrypt noted no official confirmation that any relaunch would use the token.[3]
