Mother Iggy (ticker MOTHER) is a Solana memecoin launched by the rapper Iggy Azalea on 28 May 2024. Within two weeks it reached a market capitalisation just under $260 million, the highest of any celebrity-created token at the time, and in 2026 it became the subject of a class action against Azalea.[1][3][5]

Lore[edit]

MOTHER launched hours after IGGY, a token created by the promoter Sahil Arora that he presented as Azalea's. Arora's IGGY, launched on pump.fun after a presale whose address held more than $370,000 in SOL, fell from about $3 million to $158,000 within a day. Azalea said she had "never even spoken to the guy".[2]

Azalea announced MOTHER on X late on 28 May. In under a day it traded more than $150 million, and Azalea said she held 3% of the supply.[1] By 29 May its market capitalisation was above $28 million.[2] It then peaked just under $260 million before falling 82% over the following month.[3]

Azalea stayed publicly involved. In October 2024 she hosted the "Motherland Rodeo Party" at Token2049 in Singapore, after which MOTHER rose more than 157% in ten days; her online casino Motherland soft-launched on 20 December 2024.[3] In November 2025 she joined Thrust, a Solana launchpad for celebrity "culture coins", as creative director and equity holder, and said MOTHER would move to Thrust's platform by the end of 2025.[4]

Controversies[edit]

Insider buying

Bubblemaps reported that about 20% of the supply was bought by insiders before the launch announcement and later sold; Azalea disputed that reading.[1]

IGGY presale

Arora has been accused of running pump-and-dump schemes, including by Caitlyn Jenner and Rich the Kid, and denies the allegations.[2] Six months after launch, IGGY presale buyers had received neither tokens nor refunds, according to Decrypt.[3]

Class action

In May 2026 Wisconsin resident Kenneth Kolbrak, represented by Burwick Law, filed a proposed class action against Azalea in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York.[5] The complaint alleges that utility she promoted did not work as described: that Motherland used USDT rather than MOTHER at launch, that MOTHER could not be used durably to buy phones or pay bills at Unreal Mobile, a telecom company Azalea co-founded, and that a planned DreamVault marketplace did not deliver. It also alleges buyers were not told about market-making arrangements with Wintermute and DWF Labs.[5] The allegations are unproven; Azalea's representatives did not immediately comment.[5] According to CoinGecko data cited by Decrypt, MOTHER had fallen more than 99% from its peak of about $0.23.[5]
