Pippin (ticker PIPPIN) is a Solana memecoin based on a ChatGPT-generated unicorn image that venture capitalist Yohei Nakajima turned into an autonomous AI agent posting on social media.[1] It rallied several hundred percent in late 2025 and early 2026 while on-chain analysts reported that a small group of wallets controlled most of its supply.[2][3]

Lore[edit]

CryptoSlate describes the token as born from an AI experiment in early 2024, with Nakajima first endorsing the AI-generated concept.[2] As of December 2025 the creator had posted nothing new about it and there was no roadmap or product update.[2]

PIPPIN rose 556% in the 30 days to 3 December 2025.[2] Derivatives volume passed $3.19 billion on 1 December and open interest doubled to $160 million, per CoinGlass.[2] CryptoSlate set the rally against a weak Solana memecoin market, with memecoins under 10% of Solana DEX volume after collapses such as Libra and Official Trump.[2] In the four weeks to 24 February 2026 PIPPIN rose another 135%; LunarCrush called the move speculative and possibly driven by artificial pumps.[1]

Timeline[edit]

  • 2025-10-24 to 2025-11-23: 26 addresses withdraw 44% of supply from Gate, per Bubblemaps[2]
  • 2025-12-01: derivatives volume tops $3.19 billion; an early holder sells 24.8 million PIPPIN[2]
  • 2026-02-24: CoinDesk reports a 135% four-week rally[1]
  • 2026-03-04: Bubblemaps reports a 70% weekly drop and 80% of supply held by 120 wallets[3]

Key wallets[edit]

  • 2Gc2Xg (truncated): held PIPPIN for over a year, bought for 450 SOL (about $90,000) and sold 24.8 million tokens for about $3.74 million, per Lookonchain[2]
  • BxNU5a (truncated): bought 8.2 million PIPPIN, with unrealised gains above $1.35 million in December 2025[2]

Controversies[edit]

Bubblemaps identified 50 connected wallets that bought about $19 million of PIPPIN; they were funded by HTX in tight time windows, received similar SOL for gas and had no prior activity.[2] It also flagged 26 addresses that withdrew 44% of the supply, about $96 million, from Gate between 24 October and 23 November 2025.[2] In March 2026 Bubblemaps called PIPPIN one of the most heavily controlled tokens, with 120 wallets holding 80% of supply.[3] These are Bubblemaps' readings of on-chain patterns, not identified owners. Some social media accounts alleged the 2026 rally involved money laundering; CoinDesk reported the claims without substantiating them.[1]
