Truth Terminal had riffed on the idea of a fart-themed coin, and Fartcoin launched shortly after Goatseus Maximus. Its community leaned into the joke, including a meme that every buy is a "fart". Despite being a joke coin, it passed a billion-dollar market cap in December 2024 and became one of the defining coins of that run.
