Hawk Tuah (ticker HAWK) is a Solana memecoin promoted by internet personality Haliey Welch and launched on 4 December 2024 through the overHere launchpad.[1] It reached about $490 million in market cap and fell about 93% within hours, leading to an investor lawsuit.[2]
Lore[edit]
HAWK took its name from Welch's viral "Hawk Tuah" catchphrase.[2] It launched on Solana on 4 December 2024 with overHere facilitating the launch.[1] Bubblemaps analysts said a cluster of connected wallets held 96% of the supply.[2] Welch stopped posting on social media after the launch-day X Spaces event.[2]

Controversies[edit]
Lawsuit
On 19 December 2024 Burwick Law filed a federal lawsuit for twelve plaintiffs claiming more than $151,000 in combined losses.[2] It names Alex Larson Schultz ("Doc Hollywood"), overHere Limited, its founder Clinton So and the Tuah the Moon Foundation, and alleges HAWK was marketed and sold as an unregistered security.[2] The complaint alleges a wallet controlled by the Tuah foundation collected $3 million in token transaction fees.[1] An overHere spokesperson said the company was "confident that we have done nothing wrong".[1] Welch, not then a defendant, said she was fully cooperating with the plaintiffs' lawyers.[3]
In November 2025 Burwick Law asked to amend the complaint to add Welch, her manager Johnnie Forster and her company 16 Minutes LLC.[5] The filing alleges 16 Minutes signed a promotion agreement with Memetic Labs worth up to $325,000, plus a 50% lifetime profit share for Memetic Labs on trading activity; the court had made no findings.[5] Burwick Law later filed a separate class action over ai16z.[6]
SEC inquiry
In March 2025 Welch's lawyer told TMZ the SEC had closed an inquiry into her "without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions"; the SEC declined to confirm or deny an investigation.[4] HAWK then traded on the Meteora DEX at about a $4 million market cap.[4]
