Retardio (ticker RETARDIO) is a Solana memecoin launched on 1 February 2024 alongside an NFT collection, Retardio Cousins.[1] Its market cap neared $240 million at its high, and in December 2024 the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) warned consumers against the project.[2][3]

The ecosystem centres on 4,444 NFTs called Retardio Cousins.[1] CryptoSlam data cited by Cointelegraph put the collection's lifetime sales at $31 million.[3] CoinMarketCap records the token's all-time high price of $0.2421 in November 2024.[4]

Controversies[edit]
On 16 December 2024 the FCA said Retardio may be providing or promoting financial services in the UK without its permission, and that UK buyers would have no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.[3] The warning came less than two weeks after a similar FCA notice led pump.fun to block UK users.[5] The project replied that it had "issued a warning against the UK's financial regulator".[3] Cryptopolitan reported the price rose 16% after the warning, lifting the market cap to $111 million.[2]
