KIP Protocol is an AI infrastructure company led by co-founder and CEO Julian Peh that was presented to Argentine President Javier Milei as a backer of the project behind Libra; it has denied any role in the token launch.[1][2]

History[edit]

Peh co-founded KIP in April 2023, and the firm describes itself as a "technical AI solutions company focused on deploying AI infrastructure"; Animoca Ventures led a strategic round, and KIP launched its own KIP token on Ethereum in December 2024.[1] KIP sponsored Tech Forum Argentina in April 2024, whose team included Mauricio Novelli and Manuel Godoy.[1]

Role in LIBRA[edit]

According to Argentina's Office of the President, Milei met KIP representatives on 19 October 2024, who said they planned a blockchain project called "Viva la Libertad" to finance private ventures.[3] When Milei met Hayden Davis at the Casa Rosada on 30 January 2025, the presidency said Davis was presented as a KIP partner who would provide the technical infrastructure; Davis is CEO of Kelsier Ventures, not KIP.[1][3] Hours after the 14 February 2025 launch, KIP posted that the token would "help private enterprises".[1] In a 17 February interview with Coffeezilla, Davis named Novelli, Godoy and KIP as central members of the project.[4]

KIP's statements

On 24 February 2025 KIP said it "did not initiate the Libra project, or Project Viva La Libertad" and did not "direct any activity nor did we participate in any discussions regarding the token launch".[2] It said Novelli invited it on 13 February to help manage a financing initiative for Argentine small businesses and asked it to post support on X after the launch, adding that Milei's post "was still live" at that time.[2] KIP said it "did not receive any tokens or payments" and had no relationship with Milei "aside from a single meeting on October 19, 2024".[2] Peh has said Kelsier holds all the funds.[1]

Litigation[edit]

On 17 March 2025 Burwick Law named KIP as a defendant with Kelsier and Meteora in a New York class action, alleging the infrastructure and launchpad firms launched LIBRA in a "deceptive, manipulative and fundamentally unfair" way; Cointelegraph received no immediate response from KIP.[5]
