**Neiro** (ticker **NEIRO**) is the name shared by several memecoins launched in late July 2024 after the owner of Kabosu, the Shiba Inu behind the Doge meme, adopted a new dog named Neiro; Kabosu had died in May 2024.[^1][^2] The best known is "First Neiro on Ethereum", which Binance listed for spot trading on 16 September 2024.[^3] ## Lore The first Neiro tokens launched on Solana. Over the weekend of 27–28 July 2024 the largest Solana NEIRO was worth about $30 million and a second about $4.5 million, and the two were feuding.[^1] An Ethereum token, "Neiro on ETH", created 14 minutes after the largest Solana token, rose 994% in the following days to about $137 million and overtook both.[^1] Kabosu's owner said she endorsed no crypto project except OwnTheDoge, which holds the rights to the original Doge photo.[^1] Binance listed Neiro on ETH for perpetual futures only. About a week later it chose a smaller Ethereum token, First Neiro on Ethereum, which Decrypt called Neiro CTO after its community takeover, for spot trading with a Seed Tag, alongside Turbo and Baby Doge Coin.[^3][^4] First Neiro rose from under $15 million to over $352 million in market cap in just over 48 hours, while Neiro on ETH was worth over $80 million.[^4] ## Timeline - 2024-05-24: death of Kabosu announced[^2] - 2024-07-27: first Neiro pools open on Ethereum[^5] - 2024-07-31: Neiro on ETH reaches about $137 million in market cap[^1] - 2024-09-16: Binance spot listing of First Neiro on Ethereum[^3] - 2024-09-18: First Neiro passes $352 million in market cap[^4] ## Key wallets - Neiro on ETH snipers: Bubblemaps found that 80 addresses bought 78% of supply in the same second, 11 minutes after launch, and called it "a clear case of sniping". By 31 July 2024 the wallets had sold $4.5 million of tokens and still held 66% of supply across more than 400 addresses. No link to the deployer was confirmed.[^1] ## Controversies Traders questioned why Binance listed the smaller token for spot trading. Binance co-founder Yi He wrote that the exchange "listed several meme projects with relatively decentralized tokens and low market capitalization" and that many of more than ten screened projects failed compliance review. Bubblemaps said it believed the two Solana tokens were among those that failed, and Decrypt wrote that the sniped supply likely explained why Neiro on ETH got only a futures listing.[^4] ## See also - Pepe - Mog Coin - Brett - SPX6900 - Kekius Maximus ## References 1.
