**Haliey Welch**, known as the "Hawk Tuah Girl", is an American internet personality. She promoted HAWK, a Solana memecoin launched on 2024-12-04 that briefly reached a market cap of about $490 million before falling more than 90%.[^1][^2] ## Background Welch became known through a viral street interview that surfaced in June 2024. She then built a brand around Hawk Tuah merchandise, the podcast "Talk Tuah" and an AI dating-assistant app, Pookie Tools.[^1] ## Notable trades ### HAWK - 2024-12-04: HAWK launched. Lawyers for investors said its market cap briefly reached $491 million before falling more than 90% within hours. Welch's team blamed snipers, bots that buy at launch and sell into the spike.[^1] - Decrypt reported a 93% fall within minutes, followed by a backlash and rug pull accusations, after which Welch temporarily took her account offline.[^2] ## Controversies ### Investor lawsuit - 2024-12-19: investors filed suit in federal court in Brooklyn against the coin's creators and promoters: the launchpad overHere, its founder Clinton So, Alex Larson Schultz ("Doc Hollywood") and the Tuah the Moon Foundation. Welch was not named.[^1][^2] - 2024-12-20: Welch said she was "fully cooperating" with the lawyers for affected investors and directed people who lost money to Burwick PLLC.[^1] ### SEC inquiry - 2025-03-28: Welch said the SEC had dropped its investigation into the coin. Her lawyer said the agency closed it "without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions". The SEC does not comment on whether investigations exist.[^2] ### Later statements - 2025-05: Welch said she did not "really understand" how crypto worked, that she should have vetted the project beforehand, and that "I feel sorry for everybody that just lost money".[^3] ### Added as a defendant - 2025-11: Burwick Law asked the court to let it amend the complaint to add Welch, her manager and her company, 16 Minutes LLC. The proposed complaint alleges that she made misrepresentations about the token, that it was designed to crash, and that insiders sold $1.27 million of tokens minutes after launch.[^4] - It cites a monetization agreement with Memetic Labs that paid Welch's company $125,000 upfront and up to $200,000 more for promotional milestones. The court had not ruled on the allegations, and Welch did not respond to Decrypt.[^4] ## See also - Celebrity memecoins - YZY - Broccoli - Iggy Azalea - Daddy Tate - Mother Iggy - Jailstool - Kekius Maximus ## References 1.
