dogwifhat (ticker WIF) is a Solana memecoin built on a photo of Achi, a Shiba Inu wearing a pink knitted beanie.[1][2]
Lore[edit]
The photo was taken in November 2018 by Achi's owners in South Korea.[2] It spread in 2019 after Fortnite player and streamer Issa used it as his Twitter profile picture; Issa claims no affiliation with the coin.[1] The token went live in November 2023 and its creators are anonymous.[1]
WIF was the flagship of the early-2024 Solana memecoin run, following Bonk. Binance listed it in early March 2024 and it set an all-time high on 2024-03-06.[3] It peaked at $4.83 on 2024-03-31, a market cap of about $4.58 billion.[1] Coinbase added it on 2024-11-13, when its market cap was about $4.1 billion.[4] By March 2025 it had fallen to about $0.43, 91% below the peak.[1]
The photo and the hat
Achi's owners sold the original photo as an NFT on Foundation in March 2024 for 1,210.759 ETH (about $4.3 million) to the pseudonymous trader GCR.[2] The Ethereum mint upset parts of the Solana community.[1] The physical beanie sold on Bitcoin Ordinals marketplace Ord City on 2025-08-07 for 6.8 BTC (about $794,000) to Finn, founder of the Solana launchpad Bags.[5]

Las Vegas Sphere campaign
In March 2024 holders crowdfunded about $700,000 in USDC to show the dog on the Las Vegas Sphere for a week.[3][6] The multisig was set up by five people including Ansem.[1] A Sphere spokesperson later said the venue never had a deal with dogwifhat and only accepts crypto advertising from exchanges or about Bitcoin.[6] Organizer GamesMasterFlex said a fashion partner backed out; on 2025-03-31 the organizers abandoned the plan and said the roughly $697,800 still in the multisig would be refunded.[6]
