Lore[edit]
BOME was funded by a presale: buyers sent SOL to a wallet and received tokens at launch. It launched on 14 March 2024 and was one of the fastest coins ever to reach a billion-dollar market cap, doing so within days. Binance listed it on 16 March 2024.
Its success set off a wave of copycat presales on Solana, in which developers collected tens of millions of dollars in SOL, often with little more than a ticker. Slerf was the most notorious of them.
Timeline[edit]
- 2024-03-14: launch after a SOL presale
- 2024-03-16: Binance listing
Controversies[edit]
The presale model BOME popularised was widely criticised after several follow-on presales failed to deliver tokens or vanished with buyers' SOL.
