**Bonk** (ticker **BONK**) is a dog-themed memecoin on [[Solana]], launched in December 2022 with an airdrop of half its supply to Solana users.[^1][^2]

## Lore
BONK launched weeks after the collapse of FTX, when SOL had fallen to around $8 from a November 2021 peak near $260.[^1] Half of the 100 trillion supply was airdropped from Christmas Day 2022 to Solana NFT holders, artists, collectors and developers.[^2] About 173 developers in the LamportDAO community each received 25 billion BONK, worth about $300 at the time, according to LamportDAO founder Mert Mumtaz.[^1]

In December 2023 BONK was listed on Coinbase and Binance during a rally that set new highs.[^3][^4] By late October 2024 [[dogwifhat]] was the largest Solana memecoin, and on 2024-10-29 [[Popcat]] passed BONK for second place.[^5] BONK peaked in November 2024 after an Upbit listing and a planned burn of 1 trillion tokens.[^6]

### letsbonk.fun
In late April 2025 the Bonk ecosystem launched [[LetsBonk|letsbonk.fun]] (also Bonk.fun), a memecoin launchpad that spends half of its fee revenue buying and burning BONK.[^7] On 2025-07-06 The Block reported it had passed [[pump.fun]] in 24-hour launches, graduations and volume, the first time pump.fun lost the lead on Solana since its launch.[^7]

### Bonk, Inc.
Nasdaq-listed beverage company Safety Shot pivoted to a BONK treasury in 2025, bought a 10% revenue share in letsbonk.fun, and renamed itself Bonk, Inc. (ticker BNKK) in October 2025. It then held about 2.7% of BONK's circulating supply.[^8]
