Popcat is a cat-themed memecoin on Solana, based on the "Popcat" meme of a cat opening its mouth wide.

Lore[edit]
The meme comes from a 2020 video of a cat named Oatmeal, edited so its mouth "pops" open; it became a browser clicker game the same year. The coin launched in December 2023 and was one of the cat coins that took off in 2024 as traders rotated away from dog coins such as Bonk and dogwifhat. It went on to pass a billion-dollar market cap during the 2024 run.
